  • CNIL released a 5-year GDPR compliance review, that addresses economic impact studies.
  • Czech Republic's data protection authority, released its annual report for 2023 that detailed the authority's enforcement decisions.
  • Lawmakers to approve updated GDPR rules despite companies' concerns.
  • The UK ICO announced on 4th April that it has signed an agreement with the Global CAPE.
  • The UK’s privacy regulator warned social media and video-sharing platforms to improve data protection practices to safeguard children using their services.
   

AMERICAS
  • Two branches of the U.S. government had put forward ambitious measures to protect Americans’ personal data from exploitation by adversarial regimes.
  • Microsoft announced that it is developing prompt shields for its artificial intelligence chatbots to stop users from asking the chatbots "weird" questions.
  • The Cyber Safety Review Board released a report on the Microsoft Online Exchange Incident from the summer of 2023.

  • Singapore read its Cybersecurity Bill for the first time on 2nd April 2024.
  • New Zealand's Office of the Privacy Commissioner announced, launching a "precautionary" inquiry into the facial recognition trial of grocery retailer Foodstuffs North Island.
